Polyglutamate (Polyglutamic Acid, PGA) is a natural biopolymer derived from glutamic acid, produced through biotechnological fermentation processes. In cosmetics, it is a highly valued multifunctional active ingredient due to its exceptional moisturizing, film-forming, and skin-conditioning properties.

PGA has a polymeric structure that allows it to form a hydrophilic film on the skin's surface, reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and providing long-lasting hydration. PGA Low Molecular Weight (70–150 kDa)

Medium molecular weight PGA offers a balance between a surface film-forming effect and some penetration into the upper layers of the skin.
